AIDN YOUNG ACHIEVER AWARD (YAA)

The AIDN Young Achiever Award is a national competition recognising outstanding leaders under the age of 30 who work in Defence Industry.

These talented individuals support, or work directly with, the Australian Defence Force and are making an impact in their business and to Defence.  They are the key to the future of the Australian defence support industry and future leaders in their field in their own right.

Since 2008, the AIDN YAA has showcased the leadership, technical ability, and achievements of these talented individuals from around the country and highlights the importance of their contribution to Defence Industry.

THE AWARD PROCESS

The YAA is a national competition for individuals under the age of 30 working in the Defence Industry sector.  The program will determine the national winner through a formal process:

  • Valid nominations will be accepted from current, financial AIDN members within the acceptance period.
  • All nominations for each state and territory will be judged by a group of industry, government and defence professionals.
  • A winner will be determined and formally announced at YAA Award Ceremony in that state or territory.
  • State and territory winners will compete for the national title and undergo judging by an independent panel.
  • The national winner will be announced at the AIDN National Gala Dinner the following year.

WHY ENTER THE AWARD?

The YAA recognises a young person from within AIDN Member businesses working with, or supporting, Australian Defence Industry who is making an impact in their business and Defence.

The AIDN Young Achiever Award recognises the efforts, demonstrated achievements and future potential of these talented individuals to colleagues, clients and future employers.

CAN YOU ENTER THE AWARD?

The Award is open to all AIDN members working in the defence support industry aged under 30 years, as of 1st of January in the year of competition.

Applicants need to provide the contact details of two references, one of which must be employed by a current financial member of an AIDN Chapter.

AWARD CRITERIA

YAA Judges will consider the following points when deciding the winner of the award:

  • The reason the Young Achiever deserves to be recognised
  • Career goals of the applicant
  • Academic and Career Achievements
  • Contribution to Defence Industry
  • Appreciation of key issues within the Defence sector and those that will affect it in the future
  • How challenges or work projects have influenced their current role and if it has shaped their future roles

HOW TO APPLY

To enter, nominees will complete an application form and submit it together with the appropriate supporting documentation.
